Corre mayo de 1964 y sale al mercado el que serìa el mejor y mas recordado disco de The Searchers.La banda se habìa formado en la mitica ciudad de Liverpool, en Inglaterra alla por 1959.
Estaban liderados por John McNally y Frank Allen que tomaron el nombre de The Searchers, luego de haber visto el film protagonizado por John Wayne, del mismo nombre.
La banda comenzo tocando Skiffle pero viro rapidamente hacia sonidos mas modernos, centrados en el movimiento Merseybeat y compartiendo un mismo estilo con bandas como The Swinging Blue Jeans, and Gerry and the Pacemakers.
El fuerte de la banda se encontraba en las melodìas vocales con interminables ganchos, que se destacan en temas como "Don`t throw your love away" o "Can`t Help Forgiving You" o ... cualquier otro tema.
Este album contiene el cover de Jackie DeShannon, titulado "Needles and Pins", que los llevarìa directo al puesto nùmero 1 de los charts y se convertirìa en un clàsico de la banda.
Durante los años venideros fueron incapaces de sacarse la etiqueta de British Invasion y evolucionar hacia otros sonidos, los cual los fue llevando a una muerte lenta y ...dolorosa.

I love the merseybeat sound. Another great underated mersey beat group was the Escorts. I think they had a greatest hits album on the Edsel label

The Escorts "Don't forget to write" was a great merseybeat song. It sounded a little like "P.S. I love" by the Beatles. I don't know why but they never had that hit 45 in the U.S that so many other British groups did.
yeah! this is good stuff! British Invasion mid sixities ... doesn't get a whole lot better, unless it's the same era US garage rock. thanks for this gem.
